COFFEE. Nowadays many Jakartans add coffee into their morning routine - including me. Back to 10 years ago, the only coffee shop exist in Jakarta is the one and only Starbucks at Plaza Indonesia. Now, you can find starbucks almost eeeeeverywhere.I used to spend saturday or sunday morning at my nearest Starbucks cafe and have breakfast, sip my coffee, read a book, or just surf around with the free wi-fi they provide. But since being a Keto, I cannot find a food that I can eat anymore sadly (especially in Stabucks store in Indonesia. I used to love their mushroom and cheese panini. Oooh! I loooove bread so much! But now I know I have to leave those starchy fluffy things forever - for good. Unless it's a Keto bread of course - For those who don't know we have Keto bread exist in this work, don't worry I will soon blog it! :)
Then how about the coffee? Can a Keto person can just consume black coffee? Because Stabucks only serve normal milk, low fat milk, and soy milk? No almond milk or coconut milk? Of course you can choose to add your coffee with the normal full cream milk. But for me, rather than I'm adding carbs to my body but I only got a little fat, I prefer not to. And bear in mind, no syrup or flavour whatsoever! And their Green Tea and Chocolate drink also contain sugar already - fyi. So, just normal black coffee? Really???

Hot Coffee :
Order : Hot americano with additional liquid whipped cream (how many shots do you want?) - and ask for 1 butter for you to mix it in later) Because people will stare at you if you ask the barista to do it for you - and to avoid further cynical look or unnecessary comment that a Keto always get. Lol.
Cold Coffee :
Order : Ice americano / Americano on the rock with additional whipped cream (how many shots do you want?) - since it's cold you cannot add butter in it. So what I always do is I ask for 1 more shots of liquid whipped cream.
So how is it? Easy breezy rite?
Btw, now Starbucks charge additional whipped cream if it's more than 1 shot. Before it was totally free. Maybe because now so many people choose to be Keto and they know how to enjoy their coffee while still being a Keto.
How about tea? I used to love chai tea latte so much. Easy. Just order normal Chai Tea, and ask for additional shot of liquid whipped cream like the one we did for coffee. And the rest of the tea selection you can still enjoy it without any additional flavour syrup or sugar - just bring your own stevia!
But still, I feel so disappointed when I cannot drink coffee with anything to munch! I also used to love to order Starbucks coffee and sandwich for my on-the-go breakfast during my trip to Bandung or anywhere in Airport. Now what should I do?
Worry not. There is STILL one food that we can eat as a Keto, which is : BEEF or CHEESE QUICHE~ Yes. You can eat quiche. It's made from eggs and cheese basically. But don't eat the pastry skin! Just eat the filling. And also, ask the barista to put in butter inside the Quiche before they warm it in the oven. And then you will smell the cheese and butter flavour aaaall around~
I know, it's so hard to resist the temptation to not plucking the pastry skin, but believe me, once you remember how does it feel when you consume sugar or carbs back, look what kind of healing crisis nightmare you should face! Me, for sure I don't want to face that terrible situation again. But hey! Being a Ketognic means you can eat those fatty cheesy buttery quiche more than one and you don't have to feel guilty at all!
